Current Campaigns

Get out the Vote; Elections are decided by voter turnout.. Progressive Action plans on having a large voter outreach campaign in key swing states from Ohio, Florida, Missouri , , Iowa , Nevada , and New Mexico. This swing states could determine the outcome of 2008 Election. Progressive Action plans on forming Coalitions of Voters from groups like Single Women Voters, Young Progressive Voters and Low Wage Workers. Only 32 percent of eligible voters under 30 voted in 2000 election. 56 percent of all unregistered voters are single women. Progressive Action also plans on running state wide Initiatives protecting voters against fraud and disenfranchisement. In Florida it is estimated that George Bush received 130,000 to 260,000 more votes because of irregularities associated with voting machines.

Stopping Global Warming:

We are working on initiatives in different states that would ban incandescent light bulbs and promote conservation of energy. We also support getting rid of the 16 billion dollars of tax breaks to oil companies and use more money to develop green energy. The current oil and gas tax breaks encourage the use of fossil fuels at the expense of cleaner alternatives.

Improving Health Care System;

46 million Americans have no health insurance. Americans spend about 16 percent of GNP on health care. Other wealthy nations like Japan, Australia, Canada, and rich European nations spend about 8 percent of GNP on health care. The GNP of health care in America would be 5 largest economy in the world amounting to over 2 trillion dollars. On average over 25 percent disappears in administrative cost. It is expected the United States health care spending would reach 20 percent of GNP in 10 years, which is unsustainable. Progressive Action wants to advocate for a better health care system, plus protect workers rights for health care at the work place.
